About 1300years ago, Nara was a capital of Japan for about 70years. They built numbers of temples in Nara wishing peace in the Nation.Todaiji temple Daibutsu-den (House of Great Budda) is the largest wooden building existing. Historical spots are scattered in and near Nara Park where lots of deer play.
In Nara, time is goes slowly as it was at the ancient time.
Guesthouse Tamura is at the heart of Nara Machi which is old Nara city area. Todaiji Temple, Kohfukuji Temple, Nara Park, many other historical spots and the railway stations (both Japan Rail and Kintetsu ) are within walking distance from us. It's the best location for walking Nara tour. Guesthouse Tamura is a renovated ordinary Japanese house with a bit of retro taste. We provide dormitory type accommodation with bunk beds and Japanese style private rooms. Occasionally deer entering to the front garden of Tamura may surprise you, if we forget to close the door.
From JR Nara station, go up SANJO-dori street toward Kohukuji Temple.
From Kintetsu Nara station, Exit #2. Turn right into a shopping mall. through Higashimuki street (Shopping arcade). Turn left at end of the street.
At "Y" take slight right so pond(Sarusawa Ike) is on your right. After the pond, make a wide right turn so the 5-tire pagoda is behind you and slightly to your left. Pass Hotel Obana. Shortly after, there is a men's hair salon across the street. Turn left here into the alley with the small yellow sign reading "Nara Hotel". The hostel is at the end of the alley on the right.
If you get lost, ask where Nara Hotel is. We are just in front of West Entrance(Back gate) of Nara Hotel.
